Edmonton Polar Plunge Raises $21,413.52

The Edmonton leg of the Polar Plunge in early January acheived a new personal best, raising $21,413.52 for Special Olympics Alberta and local Edmonton programs! The brave plungers in Edmonton faced temperatures as low as -30 with the wind chill and I heard some say that the worst part was actually getting out of the water which was a balmy 4 degrees.

A huge thank you goes out to our sponsors for this event, the Edmonton Police Service, Edmonton Fire and Rescue, Northwest Scuba, and the community of Lake Summerside. Huge kudos as well to the top fundraising Team, The Alberta Sheriffs Office, who raised $4,080, and to the top Individual fundraiser, Theresa Murray, who raised $1,100 on her own.

This great event sets the tone for the Plunge season here in Alberta with Lethbridge’s plunge coming up right around the corner on February 21st and the Calgary plunge to follow on March 14th. Registration is still open for both of these locations.
