2017 Polar Plunge Edmonton

On January 22nd , Alberta Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics presented the Polar Plunge Edmonton. 245 plungers braved the frigid waters of Lake Summerside while hundreds of spectators cheered them to plunge into icy glory. This year Polar Plunge Edmonton raised over $77,000 for Special Olympics Alberta which includes donations and sponsorships for the event. Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle internationally. In Alberta, 18 agencies in 117 communities contribute to LETR efforts annually, not only with events, but as Guardians of the Flame ensuring the delivery of the Special Flame of Hope to the opening ceremony of Provincial Games and sending off our local athletes to National and World Games.
